仮にうまくいかない局面があったとしても、デザイナーとしての自分は意図の明確な、意志的な計画に関与したいと思う。「核反対」とか「戦争反対」というような何かを反対するメッセージをつくることに僕は興味がない。デザインは何かを計画していく局面で機能するものであるからだ。環境の問題であれ、グローバリズムの弊害で問題であれ、どうすればそれが改善に向かうのか、一歩でもそれを好ましい方向に進めるためには何をどうすればよいのか。そういうポジティブで具体的な局面に、ねばり強くデザインを機能させてみたいと考えている。
