“そうです、なんとまさかの「宇宙戦艦ヤマト」！！！ニューヨークのセントラルパークで遭遇するなんてびっくり。しかも、かなりディテールにこだわってた傑作中の傑作！思わず、「これ、何かの映画のロケ？」とか思っちゃうほどの仕上がりです。 操作している方は見た目普通のアメリカ人のおじさんで、お話を聞いてみたら、「昔、アニメを見てカッコいいなと思ったから自分で作っちゃったよ（笑）」と のこと。手、手作り！！！えー、どうやって？！って、詳しくお伺いしてみると、本業はこの手の品を作るプロの技術者なんですって。このおじさん、戦争中に実在したあの軍艦大和の構造や歴史的背景まで詳しく調べ、戦死した若者たちの思いや、多くの日本人が持つ軍艦大和への敬意を知り、「作らずにはいられなかったよ」って・・・。「Yamatoっていうのは、昔のJapanの国名に由来してるんでしょ？」とか、そんなことまでご存知で、いろんな意味ですごいなぁとしみじみ思いました。」” ニューヨークの遊び方 : 受け継がれていくヤマトへの思い
